Home Decor Styles A-Z Part Two
This is the second part of our brief introduction to the many home decor styles that you can choose from to find the inspiration for the unique look of your home:
Mid Century Modern – This home decor style draws from the best of the furnishings and styles that were popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Oranges, yellows, greens and browns tend to be the dominant colours and furniture is very simple, with strong clean lines.
Moroccan – The Moroccan look in home decor is rich and heavy, filled with deep jewel colours and ornate patterned fabrics. There tends to be a lot of texture on the walls and furniture is dark, wooden and rather heavy.
Shabby Chic – Shabby chic is eclectic, romantic and filled with mismatched pieces of antiqued or distressed furniture and white and pale pastel colours.Everything in a shabby chic inspired room should look light, airy and very relaxing.
Traditional – A mixture of 19th century French and English colonial furnishings are the mainstays of this home decor style. Fabrics are ornate without being too brightly coloured or jarring. Stripes and florals can appear in small doses but the overall vibe should be sophisticated and slightly understated.
Tropical – A look that is inspired by the homes in French Polynesia and Hawaii this decor style is warm, bright and very natural looking. Floor coverings are usually made from natural materials like sisal, hemp and jute and fabrics are brightly colored and fun.
Wilderness – A look filled with old leather furniture, animal skin inspired prints and lots and lots of wood the wilderness look is eclectic and colourful and plays up all the elements of the unspoiled, natural world.
